Project narrative

In a handover ceremony on July 25, 2020, a newly renovated playground was opened in Baie Ste Annes, Seychelles. The Chinese Embassy, the main sponsor of the project, partnered with local businesses, such as Raffles Hotel, to fund the construction. Furthermore, the playground was reconstructed by Qingjian International (Seychelles) Group Development Co. and all parts were imported from China. The monetary value of the Embassy's contribution is unknown. Figures present at the handover ceremony were Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles Guo Wei, Family Affairs Minister Mitcy Larue, Principal Secretary for Family Affairs Marie-Josée Bonne, National Assembly representative for Baie Ste Anne, Churchill Gill, Principal Secretary for the local government Marie-Celine Jeannevol, and District Administrator for Baie Ste Anne, Denis Antat. This project is one of several playground renovations that have received funding from the Chinese embassy. The Anse Royale community's playground renovation is captured in Record ID#56066 and English River district playground renovation is captured in Record ID#56189.
