Project narrative

On February 17, 2021, the application period for the 2021/2022 Chinese Government Scholarship program closed. This scholarship is awarded to an unspecified number of Batswana students seeking higher education including Masters Degrees, Doctorate Degrees, general scholars, or senior scholars. Because the scholarship period was during COVID-19, only online submissions were accepted. The scholarship includes free tuition, free on-campus housing, full medical insurance and a stipend in line with applicable norm. Travel costs are not covered. The program assists students who are not Chinese citizens and has partnered with both Yangzhou University in the Jiangsu Province of China and Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. This scholarship is separate from the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship which is awarded to Batswana primary students and captured in Record ID#103312. The Chinese Government has been providing scholarships for Batswana students to study in Chinese higher education institutions since the 1980s. The Ministry of Education of China (MOE) formulates MOE Scholarship Program and entrusts China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Chinese Embassy to implement the enrollment of international students.
