Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On December 3, 2019, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Panama delivered a donation of 56 solar panels to the Museum of Biodiversity in Panama: Biomuseo— intended to promote the use of renewable energy in Panama, as an international cooperation effort to address climate change. The delivery was officially made by Ambassador of Panama to China, Wei Qiang, and received by the President of the Board of Directors of Biomuseo, Juan Carlos Fábrega. The donation was installed by Panama's leading renewable energy company, NSolar, with distribution across different Biomuseo buildings. The specific solar panels provided have a lifespan of 25 years, with a capacity to generate 26,200 kWh per year. Then on April 4, 2022 Panama's Foreign Minister, Erika Mouynes, met with Wang Yi, State Councilor and Chinese Foreign Minister, to discuss cooperation, trade and investment, and generalized political dialogue. The meeting was held in Tunxi, Anhui Province, China. One meeting outcome was a cooperation agreement in which China confirms their past completion of delivery/donations of solar panels— this December 2, 2019 delivery was of the most notable. Another notable donation of solar panels from the Chinese Embassy to Panama was delivered on January 24, 2022 (See Record ID#103231).
