Project narrative

On November 22, 2023, the Chinese government provided RMB 1 million in emergency cash assistance (captured in record 103346) and committed to providing RMB 15 million in food assistance to support Somalia’s disaster relief efforts after severe flooding (captured in record 108620). Then, on December 19, the Chinese embassy in Somalia handed over USD $1,000,000 (grant) to the Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) in humanitarian aid for victims of the recent floods. The donated money was to be spent on food to help the people affected by El Niño and the flooding of the Jubba and Shabelle rivers.
