On June 28, 2023, the Chinese Red Cross Society (RCSC) hosted a three-week training seminar on emergency rescue (cave rescue) for personnel from seven developing countries, including Lesotho, in Beijing and Guangxi, China. The program was organized by the RCSC National Training Center and sponsored by China’s Ministry of Commerce. At least two officials from the Lesotho Highlands Infrastructure Services Authority and Disaster Management Authority attended the training. The seminar aimed to improve emergency preparedness and promote international humanitarian cooperation. Training covered cave rescue strategies, high-angle vehicle extraction, rope techniques, water rescue, CPR and AED use, and emergency trauma care through theoretical instruction, simulated exercises, and inter-agency drills with local Chinese police and fire departments. Participants also exchanged disaster management strategies and participated in cultural and team-building activities. The training concluded with a closing ceremony on July 18, 2023.
