Project narrative

On May 24, 2022, Chinese mining company Leone Rock Metal Group announced that the launch of a community development fund to help local communities in Sierra Leone. The firm will put one per cent of its annual revenue into the fund to support communities in Tonkolili District in Sierra Leone's Northern Province, where the company is based. On March 30, 2023, the Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) officially handed over a total sum of 20.3 billion Leones as a Community Development Agreement (CDA) fund to primary host communities within their concessional areas in the Tonkolili District, Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
