Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On September 15, 2023, the Chinese ambassador to Kyrgyzstan attended a ceremony for the launch of the Health Express - Bright Journey program. This is the implementation of a promise by Xi Jinping at the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in September 2022, to provide 2,000 free cataract surgeries to SCO countries. The program included a donation of ophthalmological equipment to Osh Interregional United Clinical Hospital and established the "Health Express" ("健康快车") eye examination room. The equipment consisted of light bulbs, AV scanner, keratometers, non-contact tonometers, and intraocular/aspheric lenses, worth in total about 8 million Kyrgyz soms. The program also included surgeries and training performed by Chinese doctors; this is captured in the linked project with ID 104386.
