Project narrative

In May 2023, the Chinese government committed to donating food assistance to the UN World Food Programme to disseminate to nearly 70,000 food-insecure people in areas struck by acute food insecurity in Afghanistan. On July 17, 2023, the UN World Food Programmes in Kabul, Afghanistan received USD 2 Million worth of food aid to Afghanistan. The WFP used the funds to purchase 1,500 tons of wheat flour, 185 tons of yellow split peas, 130 tons of vegetable oil, and 15 tons of salt. These supplies will be distributed to 70,000 Afghanis to alleviate the local food crisis.
