Project narrative

On August 15, 2023, the Chinese Government awarded scholarships to 19 Fijian students at the 2023 Chinese Government Scholarship Award Ceremony held in Suva, Fiji. Of the recipients, three were admitted to PhD programs, three to Master's programs, and 13 to Bachelor's programs, covering a wide range of domains including clinical medicine, physical training, international finance, software engineering, and civil engineering. The recipients will attend various Chinese universities. Since 1996, approximately 300 Fijian students have studied in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship scheme. China has pledged to provide 2,500 scholarships to Pacific Island students by 2025.
