Project narrative

On February 28, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Fiji donated FJD $2,000 to the Gospel School for the Deaf in Suva to support its swimming program. The donation will fund water safety and aquatic skills training for deaf students. A handover ceremony was held on the same day, attended by Chinese Ambassador Zhou Jian and school officials. In his remarks, Ambassador Zhou emphasized China’s ongoing commitment to supporting persons with disabilities and inclusive education, citing China’s role as a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The school’s director, Russell Neate, expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s continued support, noting that the donation would directly benefit student development.
