Project narrative

In 2023, the Government of Grenada, with financial support from the Chinese Embassy in Grenada, renovated the Belle Isle Community Centre in St. David Parish. The center had remained in disrepair since sustaining damage from Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The renovation was completed with the employment of local residents from the Belle Isle area. The facility is owned by the Catholic Church but is used for public community activities. An official opening ceremony was held on July 20, 2023, and attended by Chinese Ambassador Wei Hongtian, Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, and other Grenadian government officials.
