Project narrative

In June 12, 2022, The People's Republic of China Poverty Reduction and Regional Cooperation Fund, a cooperation fund under China's Ministry of Finance, provided a grant of USD 800,000 to seven Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Countries and the Caucasus countries (CAREC)—Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan— for improving access and strengthening innovations for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). This project is co-financed by the Water Financing Facility, a Multi-Donor Trust Fund under the Asia Development Bank (ADB), for USD 100,000. The original timeline of the project was from June 2022 to December 2024, however, the end date has been pushed back to December 2025. As of July 20, 2023, the Administrative Agreement between ADB and UNICEF was amended and a partial liquidation of the first advance was submitted by UNICEF on March 13, 2024.
