Project narrative
On July 15, 2005, a syndicate of 23 banks — including the Bank of China (BOC) — signed a $1.15 billion USD syndicated revolver loan agreement with Nomura Holdings Inc. — a Japanese financial holding company including Japan's largest investment bank and brokerage group — for unspecified purposes. This loan carried a maturity period of one year and was unsecured. In addition to BOC, the following lenders contributed to the loan syndicate: ABN AMRO Bank N.V., Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara, Bank of America, Bank of New York, Barclays Bank, Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB), BNP Paribas S.A., Caixa Geral de Depositos, Calyon, Citibank N.A., Commerzbank AG, Danske Bank A/S, Deutsche Bank AG, HSBC, ING Bank N.V., JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., LloydsTSB, LRP Landesbank Rheinland Pfalz, Standard Chartered Bank PLC, Swedbank, UBS AG, and WestLB AG. Nomura Holdings self-arranged the loan.

1. The individual contributions of the 23 lenders to this $1.15 billion USD syndicated loan are unknown. For the time being, AidData has estimated the contribution of BOC by assuming each contributed an equal amount ($50,000,000 USD) to the loan syndicate.
