The Confucius Classroom at West Sylvan Middle School was established on March 21, 2011. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing West Sylvan Middle School with a grant. The Confucius Classroom was officially opened on April 15, 2011.
