Project narrative

On December 12, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Burundi held a closing ceremony for the "Vocational Training for Refugee Youth" cooperation project. The Chinese Embassy in Burundi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the Ministry of the Interior of Burundi signed a cooperation project in October 2021 to jointly provide 30 young refugees returning home with a six-month training and internship as well as a startup toolkit to help them integrate into the local society and enter the job market. The training was funded by the Chinese Embassy in Burundi and implemented by the UNHCR Representative Office in Burundi. It was hosted by the Bujumbura Vocational and Technical School built with Chinese assistance and was held at the Bujumbura Vocational and Technical School. This closing ceremony indicated the completion of this project.
