Project narrative

In January 2024, the sixth phase of China’s agricultural technical assistance project in Burundi began. Under this phase, Chinese agricultural experts will continue hybrid rice and maize demonstration activities and provide training to Burundian technicians. This phase was committed on April 2, 2023, when the Chinese Ambassador announced the plan, and launched publicly on May 17, 2023. The program builds on five earlier expert team deployments since 2009.
