Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

From 2023 to 2024, a Chinese agricultural expert team was present in Côte d'Ivoire to assist with hybrid rice projects. At some point they were in Guiguidou reclamation district in Dido Province. They trained locals both on the rice cultivation sites and elsewhere and repaired and maintained water conservancy facilities. In April 2023, the team held 5 on-site trainings, training 187 people. The goal for the trainings is rice self-sufficiency by 2025 and rice export by 2030. The agricultural teams are managed by AIECO and the Liaoning International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group (辽宁省国际经济技术合作集团有限责任公司).

1. The missions are known in French as "missions d'assistance technique agricole chinoise," or "MATAC." 2. It is not clear when the 11th agricultural team arrived or left. They were present in the country between 2023 and April 2024.
