Project narrative

In 2016, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the Government of Cambodia signed a grant agreement worth approximately $33.37 million for the National Road No.7 Repair Project. The purpose of the project was to repair a flood-damaged 93.56-kilometer section of National Road No. 7 (NR7) that runs from the Tiger Roundabout in Kapo village of Kratie town’s O’Russey commune to O'Chrolang in O'Kreang (O’Krieng) Commune and Sambor District within Kratie Province. Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) was the contractor responsible for project implementation. Its work was supervised by Guangzhou Van A Technical Consultants. Construction began in November 2016 and was originally expected to reach completion within 24 months (November 2018). It was ultimately completed in December 2018. A project completion certificate was issued on January 22, 2019. However, the road was not officially inaugurated and opened to traffic until February 7, 2022.
