Full Description

Project narrative

On July 23, 2023, a Chinese medical team of three doctors arrived in Sierra Leone. These doctors, originally from Hunan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital in China, were received on the same day by Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health and Sanitation. The medical team was expected to provide technical support and trainings to strengthen management of cervical cancer. This medical team is part of a Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund project, which was initiated by the Government of China and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in 2020. The project aims to help reduce preventable maternal deaths by improving reproductive healthcare for women and girls and strengthening prevention and treatment of cervical cancer.
