On May 27, 2023, the 32nd Chinese medical team stationed in Equatorial Guinea provided free medical examinations at the Maria Mbasogo Ngwe Boarding School in Riaba, South Bioko Province, as part of the "China–Africa Hand in Hand to Warm Children’s Hearts" initiative. The outreach, funded by the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Equatorial Guinea, and the First Lady’s Foundation, provided free medical examinations to nearly 200 orphans, teachers, and nearby residents. Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy Ji Denghua; Elo, Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare; Oro, Secretary General of the First Lady’s Foundation; Senator Ndong, Chief Adviser to the First Lady; Consuelo, Minister of Social Affairs and Gender Equality; and senior officials from the Presidency and Ministry of Education and Science attended the event. In addition to the medical examinations, the Chinese Embassy donated medicine kits, books, audiovisual materials, sports equipment, daily-use items, and over 200 personal "love bag" care packages containing health supplies, stationery, and food to the orphans (captured in Record ID#107702). The "China-Africa Hand in Hand to Warm Children's Hearts Activity" is a healthcare initiative organized by Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD). It aims to improve the health and well-being of orphans across Africa.
