Project narrative

On December 22, 2023, the 2023 China (Jiangxi) Foreign Aid Medical Team Departure Ceremony was held in Nanchang, China, which included the 19th Medical Aid Team to Chad, as well as the 28th Medical Aid Team to Tunisia. The medical teams have a total of 52 members. According to the Chinese Government, the medical team was scheduled to depart on December 25, 2023, and will remain in Africa for a year to carry out their foreign aid medical mission (Source ID #210997). On December 28, 2024, a ceremony was held to mark the end of their stay in Chad. In 1978, Jiangxi Province sent the first Chinese medical team to Chad. Chinese medical teams suspended their activities in Chad between 1979 and 1989, resumed their activities between 1989 and 1997, suspended their activities between 1997 and 2006, and resumed their activities from 2006 onward.
