Project narrative

On May 10, 2023, Ambassador Wang Lixin attended the opening ceremony of the online training course on cataract phacoemulsification technology at the China–Maldives Eye Center and delivered a speech. Dr. Shah Mahir, Minister of State of the Maldivian Health Ministry, Liu Yizhi, Director of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center at Sun Yat-sen University and the project organizer; and Professor Chen Weirong also attended the ceremony. Nearly 50 Maldivian ophthalmic medical staff participated. The training aimed to enhance cataract treatment capabilities in the Maldives and is part of a broader initiative involving follow-up training sessions.
