Project narrative

On September 13, 2023, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nicaragua donated musical instruments to support the Alfredo Barrera Narváez Student Orchestra and Choir School in Managua. The donation will support the expansion of the Orquestas y Coros Estudiantiles (Student Orchestras and Choirs) program jointly run by Nicaragua’s Ministry of Education (MINED) and the Rubén Darío National Theater (TNRD). According to officials, the instruments will help strengthen the musical education of youth in nearly 49 municipalities, with China having donated to approximately 15 student orchestras thus far.
