Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On December 15, 2023, the Chinese Government donated approximately 1,300 books—covering topics such as politics, development, culture, Chinese history, financial reforms, and foreign affairs—along with laptops and HP printers to Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF Party. The donation was formally handed over by Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding to Munyaradzi Machacha, Principal of the Chitepo School of Ideology, during a ceremony held at the ZANU-PF headquarters in Harare. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. The donated materials are intended to furnish the library of the newly completed Chitepo School of Ideology, which serves as ZANU-PF’s ideological training center. Ambassador Zhou noted that the gift reflects the strong party-to-party ties between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and ZANU-PF, and aims to support the school’s mission to broaden students’ understanding of global political and development issues. ZANU-PF Secretary for External Relations, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, praised China's long-standing support for Zimbabwe’s political education and national development.
