Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On March 15th, 2023, a signing ceremony for the emergency humanitarian food aid project from the Chinese Government to the Government of Djibouti took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti. The aid consisted of 1,030 tons of rice amounting to USD 467,172.18 (see staff comments). Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti, Hu Bin, and the Minister of Social Affairs and Solidarity of Djibouti, Ouloufa Ismail Abdo, signed the handover certificate on behalf of their respective governments. The food aid follows prior donations made by the Chinese Government to Djibouti in 2021 (see Record ID #85652) and 2022 (see Record ID #107695).

Staff comments

1. To estimate the monetary value of the rice donation ($467172.18), AidData takes the international price of a ton of rice in March 2023 ($453.56522) and multiplies it by 1,030 tons.
