Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On June 4, 2023, China’s Sinopec Africa donated approximately 460 books to Algiers 1 University under the framework of the “Silk Road Library – Chinese Bookshelf” initiative, which promotes cultural exchange and academic cooperation between China and Algeria. The donated books, written in Arabic, French, and English, cover a wide range of topics, including Chinese politics, economics, society, and culture. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. The donation ceremony was held at Algiers 1 University and attended by Chinese Ambassador Li Jian; University Rector Fares Mokhtari; Sinopec Africa Chief Representative Wei Dong; and Fatiha Relimi, a representative from the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mining. In a speech, Rector Mokhtari described the “Chinese Bookshelf” as a “bridge of knowledge and culture” that reinforces bilateral friendship.
