Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 31, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Algeria, the 27th Chinese medical team, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) Algeria jointly organized a charity event at the Algerian Red Crescent’s Orphanage Village of Draria, in Algiers to celebrate International Children’s Day. As part of the event, CSCEC donated gifts valued at approximately 2 million Algerian dinars (about US$14,617), including healthcare kits, school supplies, and over 20 household appliances such as microwaves, mixers, and televisions. During the event, the children received free medical consultations from the Chinese medical team members and participated in games, activities, and a party thrown by volunteers from the CSCEC. Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Li Jian and CSCEC Algeria Chairman Tang Hao attended the event and delivered remarks. Ambassador Li Jian stated that this event is part of the ‘China-Africa Joint Care for Orphans’ initiative, jointly launched by Professor Peng Liyuan (First Lady of China) and the rotating chair of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development. Chairman Tang Hao shared that this marked the eighth consecutive year of CSCEC Algeria’s engagement with Draria Children's Village and reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility and China–Algeria friendship.
