Project narrative

On July 14, 2023, Minister Counselor Ding Yonghua from the Chinese Embassy in the Solomon Islands handed over a donation of 40 sets of desks and chairs valued at USD $36,000 to Yandina Community High School. The donation was originally requested by Principal Brian Vaka in May 2023 to address the school’s long-standing shortage of furniture and improve classroom conditions for its approximately 600 students. During the handover ceremony, Counselor Ding emphasized China’s commitment to supporting education in the Solomon Islands as a core area of bilateral cooperation.
