Project narrative

On August 24, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone held a farewell reception for the Chinese scholarship awardees. In addition to the 155 awardees, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone were in attendance. Among the 155 award recipients, 127 received degree program scholarships funded by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) (captured in this Record) and 28 received the Chinese Government Scholarship (captured in Record ID #107020). The total number of scholarships given to Sierra Leonean students by the Chinese government ranks the second most in African continent.
