Project narrative

On September 14, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Equatorial Guinea held a handover ceremony for medical supplies and equipment donated to Malabo Regional Hospital. The event also commemorated the 60th anniversary of China’s global medical aid program and the 52nd anniversary of Chinese medical teams being dispatched to Equatorial Guinea. Ji Denghua, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy; Elo, Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare; Yu Xinyu, Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and Yang Binghua, head of the 33rd Chinese Medical Team attended the handover ceremony. The medical equipment donation enabled Malabo Regional Hospital to successfully perform laparoscopic surgeries for the first time. The hospital received a laparoscopic surgery simulation trainer, which is now being used for surgical training and skills development. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. Linked Record ID#106109 captures the freestanding technical assistance provided by the 33rd Chinese Medical Team during the same ceremony.
