Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On July 27, 2023, Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of PowerChina, voluntarily repaired the main road in the village of Knezhino (Кнежино), located near the Kičevo–Ohrid Motorway Construction Project (see Record ID #s #66444 and #85195) in North Macedonia free of charge. During construction, the Kičevo–Ohrid Motorway project team learned that the unpaved main road in the village was in severe disrepair, resulting in dusty conditions during dry weather and flooding during rainstorms. Most residents of Knezhino were elderly and lacked the resources to improve the road themselves. In response, the construction team mobilized labor and equipment to fill and harden the road, improving local access and living conditions. As a gesture of gratitude, the villagers delivered a thank-you letter to the project headquarters of Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co., Ltd. and the villagers installed a commemorative plaque at the road entrance. PowerChina emphasized that the repair work was a voluntary act of corporate social responsibility and not part of the main highway construction contract.

Staff comments

1. The source states that the village is named Konezhino, which does not exist. From location clues, Aiddata has determined that the village in question is actually the Knezhino (Кнежино) village in Kičevo Municipality.
