Project narrative

On April 13, 2023, the Chinese Academy of Sciences donated research equipment worth 200,000 USD to the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute to enhance studies on the Great Lakes. The donation included laboratory instruments such as microscopes for field research and CTD devices for measuring water depth, temperature, acidity, and parasite detection. The equipment will support research on eco-environmental and water security issues in Lakes of Tanganyika, Victoria, and Nyasa, providing critical data for sustainable lake management. Improved water quality will benefit aquatic life and contribute to the growth of Tanzania’s fisheries sector.
