On December 15, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Benin and the Benin–China Friendship Media Association co-hosted the 2023 Media Night and Award Ceremony for the second edition of the "China in My Eyes" Media Competition in Cotonou. The competition received 31 submissions from local journalists and media professionals. Eight (8) awards were distributed across five categories—print, online, radio, television, and photojournalism—with first-place winners receiving HP laptops and second-place winners receiving microwave ovens. The event was attended by Ambassador Peng Jingtao, members of the competition jury, leaders from over 20 Beninese media outlets, and representatives of the Confucius Institute. A representative of the organizing committee also announced that future competition winners may have the opportunity to travel to China for language immersion, beginning with the third edition of the competition next year.
