Chinese Government funds mechanical cotton-growing training in Benin in 2023

Project narrative

On June 1, 2023, the Chinese technical assistance team for the China-aided Benin Cotton Phase III Technical Assistance Project (中国援贝宁棉花第三期技术援助项目) held a mechanical cotton-growing training and community celebration at the project site in Benin. The event, which coincided with both International Children’s Day and Benin’s National Tree Planting Day, was attended by over 50 participants, including Chinese agricultural experts, local employees, and their families. Attendees took part in hands-on agricultural training aimed at modernizing cotton production through mechanized techniques—part of a broader strategy to improve yields and reduce reliance on rainfall. This initiative forms part of the ongoing Phase III of the China-aid Cotton Technical Assistance Project, which has operated in Benin for over a decade.
