Project narrative

On November 29, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Benin and the CNPC-Benin Pipeline Company co-hosted the second annual “Belt and Road” Outstanding Vocational Education Scholarship award ceremony at the China–Benin Friendship Vocational Technical School in Akassato. Over 200 attendees were present, including Chinese Ambassador to Benin Peng Jingtao, Benin’s Minister of Secondary, Technical Education and Vocational Training Chabi, the Prefect of Atlantique Department, the Deputy President of Ningbo Vocational and Technical College, and other Chinese representatives. The 2023 scholarship recipients were drawn from 12 key majors across 31 vocational institutions nationwide. During the ceremony, Ambassador Peng encouraged students to seize the opportunities created by deepening China–Benin cooperation and contribute to Benin’s “Vision 2060” national development strategy. Minister Chabi thanked China for its long-term support for Benin’s technical education sector and praised the scholarship program for cultivating skilled talent in support of Benin’s sustainable development.
