Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On December 3, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, in collaboration with Huawei, donated a smart classroom to Sofir Uddin High School and College in Sylhet. The smart classroom contains an Idea Hub (Huawei's interactive whiteboard) and access to other online teaching and learning platforms. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. The donation is a part of a larger initiative called the China-Bangladesh Friendship Talent Development Project. The China-Bangladesh Friendship Talent Development Project is meant to support the "Smart Bangladesh" initiative, a government initiative to promote technological and sustainable advancement of Bangladeshi society. Previous donations included two Idea Hubs (Huawei's interactive whiteboard), Wi-Fi coverage for the classroom, online learning platforms, and ICT course-related material like videos, online courses, and other educational content.

Staff comments

1. The China-Bangladesh Friendship Talent Development Project is likely co-financed by Huawei since the technology supplied is from the company. For now, AidData has coded the records related to the China-Bangladesh Friendship Talent Development Project as Huawei co-financing and implementing the project.
