Project narrative

On September 12th, 2023, the second cohort of 8 TVET (technical and vocational education training) teachers left Seychelles to attend a 3-month training in China. The training took place in three different Chinese institutions: Weifang Vocational College, Jining Polytechnic and the Wuhan Technical College of Communications. The TVET teachers came from seven Seychellois secondary schools: Praslin, Anse Royale, Ile Perseverance, La Digue, Plaisance, Pointe Larue and English River. The training was part of a December 2022 MOU between the Seychelles Ministry of Education and the Chinese government which sought to improve the teaching skills of Seychelles TVET teachers and promote cultural and educational exchange between China and Seychelles. The agreement is a part of the five year China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance. The first cohort of 8 TVET teachers participated in the training from May to August 2023. The teachers returned to Seychelles on December 9, 2023.
