Project narrative

On October 26, 2023, the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) signed exchange letters with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Finance to provide RMB 20 million (US$2.82 million) in emergency food assistance. The signing was officiated by CIDCA Vice Chairman Tang Wenhong and Zimbabwean Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube. Chairman Tang stated that the aid was a special arrangement made by President Xi Jinping to address food security concerns in Zimbabwe. The donation is intended to address food insecurity and support Zimbabwe’s national food reserves and nutritional safety net programs. The signing ceremony was held alongside a second agreement for the Juncao Technical Assistance Project (see Record ID#106681)
