Project narrative

On November 20, 2023, China Development Bank (CDB) signed an RMB 100 loan agreement with State Savings Bank of Tajikistan (Amonatbonk). The borrowing terms of the loans are unknown. However, it is known that the borrower was expected to use the loan proceeds to on-lend in support of the development of small and mid-sized enterprises and agricultural projects in Tajikistan. The agreement was signed by Amonatbonk Chairman Ikromi Sirojiddin and CDB Chairman Tan Jiong.

Staff comments

1. The 2023 loan builds upon CDB and Amonatbonk’s financial cooperation dating back to 2008, but appears to be a distinct commitment from the 2014 master facility (captured via Record ID#72544). It is not described as a tranche of (or disbursement under) a prior loan agreement with CDB.
