Project narrative

On January 13, 2023, the Chinese government delivered the first shipment of school uniform material—totaling 3 million meters of fabric—to Colombo Port. The second and final batch, comprising 44 containers, arrived on March 8, 2023. In total, China donated 9 million meters of uniform fabric worth USD 4.24 million to the Sri Lankan Ministry of Education, enough to supply 3,420,714 students. This donation fully meets the school uniform needs of the Northern, Eastern, Uva, and North Central provinces, and covers 70% of the requirement in the rest of the country.
