Project narrative

On May 14th, 2021, the Chinese Embassy, along with the Chinese Charity Care Center, donated materials to the SOS Children's Village in Botswana. The Embassy donated 2,000 face masks to support the COVID-19 response, and the Chinese Charity Care Center donated food parcels, blankets, books, and hand sanitizer for the approaching winter. The value of the masks alone is unknown, however the total donation had a monetary value of BWP 60,000. On the same day, the Chinese Embassy also donated 50 radio/CD players to Botswana's Ministry of Education to provide greater access to educational programs for children in remote villages (captured in Record ID #108095).

Staff comments

1. The value of the masks that were donated by the Chinese Embassy is unknown. Thus, for the time being AidData assumes that the masks constituted half of the donation's total monetary value, BWP 30,000.
