Project narrative

On June 18, 2023, China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment donated solar LED street lights, LED bulbs, solar home systems, and energy-efficient air conditioners worth $2.7 million to the Government of Egypt. The handover ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang and Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad in the Egyptian capital of Cairo. This donation falls under a memorandum of understanding on donations to combat climate change signed by China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Egypt's Environment Ministry in 2016.
