Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On June 27, 2006, a syndicate of seven banks — including the Bank of China (BOC) — signed a $200 million USD syndicated loan agreement with Hana Bank Co., Ltd. — a South Korean bank headquartered in Seoul — for unspecified purposes. The loan carried a maturity period of one year. Standard Chartered Bank served as the original mandated lead arranger. BOC, Lloyds TSB Bank, and United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) joined as mandated lead arrangers. Banco Nacional Ultramarino S.A. (BNU), Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara, and Banque et Caisse d'Epargne de l'Etat Luxembourg joined as arrangers. It was expected that other lenders may sign onto the loan after they processed credit approvals.

1. The individual contributions of the seven lenders to the $200 million USD syndicated loan are unknown. For the time being, AidData has estimated BOC's contribution by assuming each lender contributed equally ($28,571,428.5714 USD) to the loan syndicate.
