Project narrative

In September 2016, the Hainan-Cambodia Brightness Action Program sent the first medical team to Kampong Cham Provincial Referral Hospital to provide cataract-induced blindness surgeries. The team was comprised of over 30 doctors and nurses from the Hainan province of China and they treated 232 patients.

1. The Hainan-Cambodia Brightness Action Program ran from September 1st, 2016 to December 2019. The goal of the program was to send five medical teams to treat 1,000 patients with cataract-induced blindness across various provinces in Cambodia. The program was established when Luo Baoming, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in July 2016. The Hainan Provincial Government sent five medical teams to the Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, and Kampong Speu provinces in Cambodia, treating over 592 patients.
