Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2011, the Government of the People’s Republic of China donated 167 pieces of water infrastructure equipment, valued at USD 6.7 million, to Cuba’s National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos, INRH). The donation included machinery and parts to improve the country’s water distribution networks, reduce leakages, and rehabilitate aging infrastructure. This grant-financed, in-kind donation marked the first documented phase of Chinese assistance to Cuba’s water sector and set the precedent for subsequent support packages delivered in 2016, 2018, and 2023.
