Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2018, the Government of the People’s Republic of China donated water infrastructure equipment worth USD 7,800,000 to Cuba’s National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos, INRH). This in-kind donation was aimed at improving Cuba’s water supply and sanitation systems, specifically targeting leak reduction and the rehabilitation of aging water distribution networks. The equipment package included machinery and parts necessary to enhance infrastructure resilience across the country. This donation followed earlier Chinese water sector assistance in 2011 and 2016 and preceded a larger donation reported in 2023.
