Project narrative

On October 31, 2023, the Thai Secretariat of the Cabinet approved the MoU for the Thailand Ministry of Industry project on "Sustainable Competitiveness Development Project for Automotive Parts Manufacturers towards an Industry oriented towards Intelligent Transportation and Systems". The Ministry of Industry will receive THB 7.86 million from the Lancang-Mekong fund for the project. The purpose of the project was to strengthen cooperation in automotive parts industry and support the development of the future automotive industry in the Mekong-Lancang subregion. This project was primarily implemented through a series of trips to China for discussions between Chinese automotive companies and various public and private companies from the different Lancang-Mekong member countries. The Office of Industrial Economics and the Thailand Automotive Institute (TAI) were key implementers and participants in these activities. The first discussion occurred on May 29, 2024. On June 5, 2025, a seminar was held to discuss the results of the project. This project is one of 13 projects that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) received USD 2.8 million from the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund for.
