Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On March 3, 2023, China's Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund donated food to the Sahel region of Burkina Faso. A handover ceremony held on the same day was attended by Chinese Ambassador Lu Shan and UN World Food Programme (WFP)'s representative Elvira Pruscini. The grant was meant to relieve the famine in the worn-torn region, where according to Chinese sources as many as 170,000 people are living in dire situations due to political instability. The monetary value of the donation is unknown.
