Project narrative

On or around June 16, 2006, a syndicate of 21 lenders — including the Hong Kong Branch of the Bank of China (BOC) — entered into a $250 million USD term loan agreement with Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) — a South Korean bank listed on the Korea Exchange with American private equity firm Lone Star Global Acquisitions, Ltd. as its largest shareholder (50.53% stake) — for unspecified purposes. The loan carried a maturity period of one year. The facility started at $200 million USD and was oversubscribed to $250 million USD during syndication. BOC committed $10 million USD and served as arranger on the facility. In addition to BOC, the following lenders played these roles on the deal and contributed these amounts: Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB) (mandated lead arranger, $20.5 million USD); Calyon (now Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank) (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); DBS Bank (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); HSH Nordbank (now Hamburg Commercial Bank) (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); Lloyds TSB (now Lloyds Bank) (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); Natexis Banques Populaires (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); Raiffeisen Zentralbank Osterreich (RZO) (mandated lead arranger, $10 million USD); Standard Chartered Bank (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) (mandated lead arranger, $16 million USD); Banque et Caisse d'Épargne de l'État (Spuerkeess) (arranger, $20 million USD); Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) (arranger, $10 million USD); Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (now MUFG Bank) (arranger, $10 million USD); KBC Bank (arranger, $10 million USD); Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC Bank) (arranger, $10 million USD); Unicredito Italiano (now UniCredit) (arranger, $10 million USD); United Overseas Bank (UOB) (arranger, $10 million USD); Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara (co-arranger, $7 million USD); Banca Nazionale del Lavoro S.p.A. (BNP Paribas - BNL) (co-arranger, $5 million USD); Toronto-Dominion Bank (lead manager, $3 million USD); and Anglo Irish Bank Corp (lead manager, $2.5 million).
