Project narrative

In December 2019, a feasibility study was undertaken for the Tadjourah Hospital Construction Project. Then, in November 2020, China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Government of Djibouti signed a $20 million grant agreement for the Tadjourah Hospital Construction Project. The project scope include the construction of a new, 50-bed hospital in the heart of Tadjourah City that is equipped with modern facilities, including a general medicine pavilion, cardiology department, obstetric gynecology unit, a high-tech radiology unit, and a dedicated wing for ENT services, including ophthalmology. The hospital is designed to treat hundreds of patients daily, offering comprehensive services such as internal medicine, intensive care, and maternal and child health care at international standards. China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was the contractor responsible for implementation. The project’s groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 26, 2021. Then, on December 15, 2024, the project was officially completed and the hospital was inaugurated.
